    August brings home two awards at 2013 CMAs

    August brings home two awards at 2013 CMAs

    From an impressive 16 shortlisted nominations, August took the top gong in two categories at the prestigious 2013 International Content Marketing Awards at London’s Old Billingsgate on November 27.

    Winner in the Best B2B: Industry and Manufacturing category is the Algeta Annual Report + corporate website rebuild. The judges praised August’s work as ‘a highly effective content solution’ adding that it ‘sticks to the core brand and the content is outstanding’.

    Topping the Best Brochure/Catalogue category is Butlins Family Brochure 2013, described by the judges as something that ‘completely transforms your perception of the brand’.

    Two further August entries were highly commended in their categories: Our World for P&O Cruises in Best Consumer Membership, and Completely London for Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward in Best Non-retail Consumer.

    August shortlisted 16 times in CMA Awards 2013

    August shortlisted 16 times in CMA Awards 2013

    August has received a colossal 16 nominations across 20 categories in the CMA International Content Marketing Awards 2013.

    August magazines, websites, annual reports, illustration and photography campaigns have all received prized places in the shortlist, including two nominations in the Launch of the Year category, and a nomination for Completely London for Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward editor, Donna Hardie, who won the award in 2010. August art director Richard Murray has also been shortlisted for Designer of the Year this year after winning the category in 2012.

    The CMAs are the biggest night in the content marketing calendar, and this year has been the biggest year ever with more than 445 entries, despite a reduction in the number of categories from 27 to 20. See the full shortlist here. Winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on Wednesday 27th November.

    August appointed by luxury accommodation group Nido

    August is delighted to have been appointed by Nido to rejuvenate the luxury student accommodation brand through inspiring interiors and youthful, energetic street photography.

    Following a competitive pitch, August was appointed to support Nido – which means ‘nest’ in Spanish and Italian – in its campaign to attract students from across the UK and abroad to its high-end rental apartments in three of London’s most desirable locations (Spitalfields, King’s Cross and Notting Hill).

    August’s award-winning expertise in shooting real people in their home environments, as well as on the streets of the capital, was a critical deciding factor in the appointment.

    LUMIERE 2013 shortlisted for Lovie Award

    August’s LUMIERE 2013 website, which launched in July, has been shortlisted for a Lovie Award in the Art category.

    LUMIERE 2013 was commissioned by Artichoke following a successful collaboration with August in 2011. In November this year two bespoke LUMIERE festivals will light up the night in Durham and Derry-Londonderry, becoming the biggest of their kind anywhere in the UK. August built a site that incorporates photography and film with a dynamic and attractive home page that pulls content from all areas of the site.     The 3rd Annual Lovie Awards celebrate the best in websites, online advertising, Internet video, mobile and apps and social content. August has been shortlisted from almost 1,500 entries received from more than 20 European countries. LUMIERE’s place in the shortlist marks it in the top 15% of all work submitted.

    August has launched a new project that curates some of the world’s finest properties from Christies International Real Estate (CIRE) into one stunning publication. The Luxury Edition, a high-spec book featuring beautiful original photography of exclusive homes around the world, was created by the team behind Christie’s International Real Estate magazine.

    Presenting the top properties for sale through CIRE’s global affiliate network, and targeting the wealthiest of ultra high net worth buyers and sellers, the 116-page book includes homes from Hawaii to Miami, Paris to St Moritz. Each extraordinary estate in this limited-edition title was shot and art directed by the August team, and features commissioned articles that delve into the history, design, architecture and amenities of the homes.

    August needs models for brand new project

    August is launching a brand new project, and we're looking for bright, enthusiastic, stylish and creative individuals to feature in a street style campaign.

    We want to use real people with a strong look - we definitely don't want typical models. We'd like people who have something quirky and different about them: ideally a mix of girls and boys aged between 18 -27. The campaign is international and we want to represent this with a range of multicultural people.

    The shoot will be really fun and will last half a day (date TBC) somewhere in or around central London. Although we'd like people to come in their own clothes to show their style, we will provide jeans, and there will be a stylist and makeup artist. We will pay everyone who takes part £150.

    August was commissioned to create the site for Artichoke following a successful collaboration in 2011. In November 2013 two bespoke LUMIERE festivals will light up the night once again. The events, taking place in Durham and Derry-Londonderry, will be the biggest of their kind anywhere in the UK.

    The brief was to create a user-friendly site that would allow Artichoke to communicate the nature and scale of the event, and include news, tips and guidance. August built a site that incorporates photography and film with a dynamic and attractive home page that pulls content from all areas of the site. The flexibility of the design allows for different messages to be communicated at various times during the coming months.

    Internationally renowned conductor Robert Ziegler has launched his new website, designed and built by August.

    With its innovative, fluid design and integration with Songkick, Spotify, Twitter and YouTube, the site features a comprehensive overview of Ziegler’s impressive career, including photos, video and information about upcoming performances.

    One of the most versatile conductors working today, Ziegler is known for his inventive programming and imaginative collaborations. His film conducting credits include the scores for There Will Be Blood (2007) and Romeo and Juliet (2013), and he is currently on tour of the UK with Mark Kermode performing a programme of some of the film critic’s bestloved music from the movies.

    August relaunches Renault’s test-drive site

    drive.renault.co.uk is a website designed for Renault’s retail customers. The objective of the site is to increase footfall to dealerships through the online booking of test drives.

    Initial results from tests conducted to measure the performance of the new website are extremely positive. The step-by-step booking process already shows an uplift of 28% in visitors completing the journey to the final step.

    Renault’s Manager, Brand Communications (Digital), Matt Lamprell, said: “Test drives are among the strongest leads that we’re able to provide to our dealer network through renault.co.uk. We know that it’s a significant step in the purchase process, so we want to make it as simple and efficient as possible for our customers.     Not only is our receptionist Tasha running the London Marathon at the weekend, but she also baked some delicious cakes to help raise money for Help the Hospices.

    Never ones to turn down the chance to help a good cause, the August team ate £214 of the best cakes we’ve had in a long time – the carrot and lemon drizzle cakes being particular favourites. No chance of us running anywhere soon. Or fast.
     
    All the money that Tasha raises is going to Help the Hospices, who nursed her grandmother. She’s already reached her target of £2000 by hosting a band night in her local village.

    August was tasked with developing the online strategy, interface design and technical implementation for the new iteration of www.milkround.com. The site was developed using EPiServer and provides a wealth of innovative tools for candidates and recruiters alike.

Sustainable stuff

At August we like good things – chocolate on Wednesdays, a kitchen stocked with fairtrade tea. We also like good ideas. An idea shared with us by many of our clients is that being green is good, but being sustainable is better. For us, being sustainable isn’t doing big, one-off green gestures, it’s doing small, sometimes mundane, everyday things, every day. So we might not be perfect now, but we’ll keep trying to get better at everything from recycling and reducing the energy we use, to supporting local charities and investing in internships. That way, we hope to make the kind of change that will last.
