Goodwood is glorious. A brand that lives and breathes a love of the extraordinary and the spirit of adventure. August was hired to overhaul the organisation’s website, turning it into a hub that drives cross-business awareness and buying opportunities through excellent user experience. In addition, the site needed to build Goodwood’s reputation globally and encapsulate the passion, love of fine things and daredevil attitude that define the Goodwood brand.

The answer was to set up a beautiful, content-rich customer journey that streamlined the route from browsing to purchase and struck the right balance between brand and commercial messaging. In addition, August identified a need for the site to give users the chance to explore ‘behind the scenes’ at Goodwood and exclusive content that they wouldn’t find elsewhere.

To deliver this, we designed and built a responsive website using the enterprise level CMS, EpiServer. The CMS we built is modular, giving our client the freedom to create bespoke pages and customise them as required. The site is scalable, making it capable of providing seamless user experience to thousands of concurrent users.

This project was a true collaboration. It started with an August-led discovery and scoping phase to ensure all parties understood Goodwood’s business needs. Throughout the process, we continued to work closely with the client, holding workshops for UX and design. We also provided CMS training for all marketers and worked with Goodwood’s SEO partner to ensure the site was optimised for search performance.

As well as UX, design and build work, August lead the content strategy – writing copy for all sections of the site, creating a tone of voice document and hosting workshops with the marketing team to give them the skills needed to update the site going forward. In addition, we oversaw content migration from the old site to the new one – 7,000 articles – and managed forum migration and social media integration.

We continue to provide on-call support and maintenance around Goodwood events when needed.

The result is a greater experience of community and engagement throughout.

This online environment provides the perfect medium to present the estate’s history, scale and diversity. We are no longer limited by time or geography.
